In the year 1975, Taekwondo was introduced in India by Grandmaster Jimmy R. Jagtiani. On 2nd Aug. 1976, the Taekwondo Federation of India (TFI) was formed and established as a National Body of Taekwondo in India.
The first Anniversary of Taekwondo Federation of India was organized on 2nd August 1977, with a demonstration of high power Taekwondo techniques at the K.D. Singh Babu Indoor Stadium, Lucknow.

The students trained by Grandmaster Jimmy specially Mr. Inder Kumar Singh and Mr. Dinesh Kumar Singh both are Senior most student along with Police personals and others entered the Arena and enhanced the viewers by their superb performance, which was inaugurated by none other than the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, His Excellency Mr. Bum Suk Lee., and Dr. Banarsi Das Gupta was the Chief Guest.
Gm. Jimmy R. Jagtiani was born and bred in the war savaged, Vietnam, where only rough & tough survived. He graduated with Bachelor’s degree in Economic from International School, Saigon, Vietnam. Due to Vietnam War, he migrated to India in 1974.
There after in 1975, Grandmaster Jimmy R. Jagtiani intoruduced and developed Taekwondo all over India, inspiring and lasting spirit not only to millions of his Taekwondo disciples but commoners also. He is at the helms of Taekwondo movement in India and has launched many promotional programmed and produced high class International Taekwondo Players, also he is specialist in Martial Art Acupressure and physical fitness, cured more than 100 paralysis patients.
Gm. Jimmy R. Jagtiani qualified International Refereee "IR" in 1982, International Master Instructor "IMI" in 1983, represented India in Asian Taekwondo Championships / World Taekwondo Championships including Asiad and Olympic games as Refereeship. He has also given Taekwondo Training/conferences, seminars in various Countries under Kukkiwon and International Taekwondo Academy "ITA" (Korea), to Korea, Japan and Nepal.

He has authored a monumental “Taekwondo Textbook” on the Art of Taekwondo to provide a shortcut on a series of scientific researches on Taekwondo techniques for the Coaches/Referees and Masters, the 1st Taekwondo Test Book was released in 2011.
So far 36th National Taekwondo Championships for Senior Male/Female, Junior, Sub-Junior and Pee-wee male and female including 4th International Taekwondo Championships have been organised in India.
Forty two years of struggle and hope, forty two years of dedication and satisfaction, forty two years to the service and Humanity and thereby to the cause of Taekwondo. Glory comes after on its own.
Although, Taekwondo comes date back to approximate five thousand years. There are good reasons for its long existence. Those who practice Taekwondo - Martial Art, are benefited in five folds:- i.e.
